GARY Lineker has been gracing our television screens once again, advertising Walkers’ latest brand of snacking supplements, Mix-Ups. There’s six different flavours to try out, all with the idea of having a combination of our favourites in one sharing pack. There’s the choice of; Sweet & Salty Popcorn , Cheese Flavour Snacks Mix, Cheese & Bacon Crisps Mix, Cheese & Worcester Sauce Crisps Mix, Spicy Flavour Snacks Mix and Sweet & Spicy Popcorn. They all serve in preventing the taste-buds from getting bored from the the one flavour of crisp and these also help those who just can’t pick between what they want.
With Walkers having only recently hit the popcorn scene, it was probably natural for them to try and enhance this further by adding these two popcorn mixes and they do a good job of it. The Sweet & Salty Popcorn brings the familiar cinematic mixture together and do actually intermingle rather nicely and although we didn’t manage to try the Sweet & Spicy Popcorn, we would imagine that it would be the same case here. Popcorn has become quite a recent phenomenon in terms of creating more flavours with it, most notably Butterkist’s more savoury flavours in recent months, and these are nice addition to the collection.
The Crisps Mixes are very moreish despite their perhaps lack of imagination and certainly worth a try. Cheese and Bacon in any combination is a winning one and the same can be said for the mix. If you’re a fan of Smoky Bacon crisps, who isn’t, and Walkers’ Cheese crisps then you are going to enjoy snacking on this very much. The same can be said for the Cheese & Worcestershire Sauce mix, as long as you like the Worcestershire Sauce flavour crisps as the sharp taste can put some off. But if you do like the flavours singularly, then you really are going to enjoy them together.
The two snacks mixes are easily the favourite among the Mix-Ups. If you remember over Christmas, Walkers did actually bring these out in tub form and saved a lot of room on the table of the Boxing Day buffet. Instead of combining flavours, these combine some of Walkers’ household favourites. The Cheesy Mix Contains Wotsits, Cheesy French Fries, Doritos and Monster Munch. As there has never been a Cheese Flavour of Monster Munch, although there did used be a Cheese & Onion flavour, this was a really nice addition and if these continue to sell there’s maybe hope of a Cheesy Flavour Monster Munch. The Spicy Mix contains Flamin’ Hot Monster Munch, Chilli Heatwave Doritos, French Fries and Flaming Hot Wotsits. This mix brings back the Flaming Hot Wotsits, which were last seen as Limited Edition Zombie Fingers during Halloween, and potentially a mixture of the discontinued Mexican Chilli French Fries and the Worcester Sauce flavour. Whether you prefer cheese or spice, these snack mixes will easily become a favourite amongst many households.
