OVER the years, Crisps have come in many different shapes and Walkers’ latest product is already proving to be quite popular.
Walkers Bugles are available in three different flavours; Cheese, Southern Style BBQ and Sour Cream & Black Pepper and maybe look more like wizard hats than bugles. But fitting wizard hats onto the packaging would be a lot harder and thus the Bugles are born. Overall these are quite nice and do offer something different but these mainly taste plain salted.
The Cheese flavour does taste a lot like Quavers which obviously isn’t hard for Walkers to recreate. The Bugles are arguably crunchier and not as ‘light’ but the flavour is pretty much the same. Price wise the two are rather similar but the main difference is that Quavers are 20 calories per pack less than Bugles. So if you are a calorie counter it may be worth sticking with Quavers.
The Southern Style BBQ Bugles do have a slight tang every now and again but the main taste is just a salted flavour. Whether it’s because of the texture or poor balancing of flavouring, there’s not a lot of difference between all of the Bugles which is a shame. There’s the tiniest burn from the Sour Cream and Black Pepper flavour but again it’s only on rare occasions which is disappointing. However, like previously mentioned, these are proving quite popular to begin with. But it will be quite interesting to see if that continues in the long run as the flavouring just isn’t really there at the moment. Nice but not quite the flavours being advertised.
