WE’VE ALL had Salt & Shake Crisps and enjoyed ripping open the sachet of Salt, once you’ve rummaged through the Crisps, and shaking the bag for all its worth to before eating these semi-handmade Salted snacks.
Well McCain have taken that idea and have created Shake Shake Fries. Available in Spanish Smoked Paprika and Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper, these bags of Fries are to be kept in the fridge until use and are probably only just enough for two people to enjoy together and are actually quite an ingenious new way to enjoy Chips.
The Sea Sat & Cracked Black Pepper Shake Shake Fries aren’t as flavourful as Smoked Paprika and are probably the safe, original, choice to create. The pack comes with a sachet that you pour into the bag and shake up until satisfied before placing into a baking tray. There’s some Peppery bursts to them without being overpowering and a nice way to have DIY flavoured Chips. Being McCain’s, these Fries tend to be quite crisp on the outside and very easy to snack on.
The Smoked Paprika flavour has more of a distinct flavour to them and that arguably makes them the nicer of the two. The only negative to these is that the flavouring doesn’t completely cover all of the Chips which leaves some Fries that could do with having more flavour to them. The Smoked Paprika Fries do have a similar taste to the Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper ones but there’s a distinct smoky tang to these from the Paprika. The flavouring isn’t as strong as it is on certain Crisps which again is a bit of shame but these are very nice.
As an idea, these new Fries are really creative and work extremely well. There’s also a lot of room to experiment with more flavours if these take off, which they really should do.
