VIENNESE Whirls have been given a special wintry makeover by everyone’s favourite Mister in the food world.
Mr. Kipling has replaced the standard butter biscuit with gingerbread but has kept the jam and cream filling. Unlike the Viennese Whirls, you aren’t able to taste the cream as much with the gingerbread as the biscuit sandwich is a bit overpowering.
Perhaps the most unusual feel with these is that the gingerbread is actually just as soft as the normal butter biscuit. As gingerbread tends to be quite hard to bite into, these Whirls give it a new dimension and save the teeth. That sugary sweet burning sensation is still there and it’s that feeling and taste that brings the sense of winter. To feel that warmth of the ginger going down as you sip a nice hot drink alongside it is enough to bring the feeling of Christmas just that little bit closer.
The only downside to these Whirls is that they are slightly dry in parts. Bits can stick to the roof of your mouth which some people can find really irritating. Overall though, these are a nice seasonal twist to a household favourite.
